When I was 6 years old my dad was diagnosed with ALS. He was given an life expectancy of 2-5 years. He died within 8 months. My dad's diagnosis and death changed mine and my family's lives forever. I watched my dad lose his ability to talk, walk, eat, etc. My younger sister and I grew up without our dad. We instead grew up going to ALS Walks for 20 years and raising money to help find a cure to this brutal disease. In 2025, my family got the devastating news that my dad's sister, my aunt, received the same devastating diagnoses. Our family went through this once and we can do it again, but that doesn't make it any easier. As a long-distance Saints fan, I went to my first game at the Superdome in December 2025. While wearing my Steve Gleason jersey, my friend and I ran into Steve outside of the stadium. I was overcome by emotion, but was honored to meet Steve. Unbeknownst to me at the same time, my aunt received an electric wheelchair from Team Gleason. Our family never reached out to Team Gleason, but it showed up anyways. When my dad was sick, fighting with insurance agencies, equipment vendors, etc. were the bane of my family's existence. Everything was so difficult. Team Gleason has already created a world of difference for my aunt. I am proud to raise money for Team Gleason, to help in the fight for a cure AND help families & patients in being able to live as comfortably as possible. NO WHITE FLAGS! END ALS!
