My name is Marshall. I am honored to participate and be captain of the second annual Acing out ALS. I am doing this to honor Mr. Reza Beigi, my father's friend who died of ALS. I am sad my Dad's best friend is not here. Mr. Reza seemed like a good friend- kind, trustworthy and honest. He was the type of friend I want to be.
When I watched Gleason movie with my family, I saw how tough this disease is. Although it was sad, it was incredible that Mr. Gleason could still be so strong and optimistic. How he believed his illness was not going to stop him. I hope to have that strength and optimism when I face challenges.
As my mom said "Stop talking about what you can not do, but concentrate on what you can do". So, I am taking her advice again and doing this fundraiser for the second year.
"Acing out ALS" premise is simple. Teams trying to get the most points by serving and hitting practice cones. Each team will consist of three people. My team will be made of my awesome coach -Coach Roosevelt. The second team will consistent of my brother and his friends.
The competition will be May 21, 2023 at Cape Henry Racquet club in Virginia Beach, Virginia (Thanks Coach Darryl Cumming for the court donation).
My parents will donate to the team that generates the most serve points on May 21st. In the spirit of competition, my parents will also give another donation to the team that has the most received the most money thru sponsors by July 29 2023- Mr. Reza's birthday. But don’t worry you can still donate after that date.
Last year I came out short in donations. Team Tyson had the bragging rights of a win. However, I am more motivated than ever to beat him this year---I have no doubt my team will win!
I am honored to help people with ALS. Please help me, my brother and our friends contribute to this great cause.
MAY 2
Getting ready to kick Tyson's butt. I lost last year, but this year I will bring in more money!
