“Shooting for a Cure” was originated in 2018 by Marian Central Girls basketball program wanting to make a difference not only for one of their own players Vannessa Garrelts’ father, Steve Garrelts, who was diagnosed with ALS in April 2014 but for others in their community who also have been affected by this horrific disease.
Every dollar we raise will advance Team Gleason's great cause in bringing a CURE to those who live with this horrific disease by helping them with things needed in their everyday lives!
Sports can make such a great difference and have an impact on people’s lives in so many ways, especially those who have been faced with struggles and/or unfortunate life situations. These athletes are choosing to have their skills and love for the game help to make a difference. The power and beauty that sports have in bringing communities together can help solve social issues by working and bonding together in a truly unique and impactful arena.
