Tri to Defeat ALS | In Memory of My Mom

Emily Elkin

Emily Elkin

My mom was an ALS warrior, and as a child I watched her bravely face ALS. She showed me from an early age to be resilient and take challenges head-on. My mom was brilliant, fearless, and talented in all ways. In 2001 she lost her battle with this awful disease, that takes far too much from those we love. She is my endless source of inspiration, and her spirit lives on in everything I do.

That's why this November I am racing in Ironman Arizona where I'll cover 140.6 miles (a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and a marathon). I’ve decided to take on a personal challenge to honor her memory and raise funds for a cause that is very close to my heart. I will be raising money for Team Gleason, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of those living with ALS. Every step I take, every mile I cover will be in the name of hope. Hope for a cure, hope for a future where no one has to face ALS.

My goal is to raise $2,300 - $100 for every year since my mom passed. No matter the size, every donation brings us closer to a world without ALS. If you're able to contribute, I would deeply appreciate your support in helping me reach this goal!

Thank you for being part of this journey! Please help me support Team Gleason by contributing to my fundraiser, sharing my journey with someone, joining me for a workout, or sharing a story of inspiration or encouragement of someone impacted by ALS. Let's do this together, to be one step closer to a world with no ALS, and for a day when there are #NoMoreWhiteFlags
