My name is Marshall. I am 12 years old and the younger brother of Tyson. I am doing this to honor Mr. Reza Beigi, my father's friend who died of ALS. I was sad my Dad's best friend is not here. Mr. Reza seemed like a good friend- kind, trustworthy and honest. He was the type of friend I want to be.
When I watched Gleason movie with my family, I saw how tough this disease is. Although it was sad, it was incredible that Mr. Gleason could still be so strong and optimistic. How he believed his illness was not going to stop him. I hope to have that strength and optimism when I face challenges.
As my mom said "Stop talking about what you can not do, but concentrate on what you can do". So, I am taking her advice and doing this fundraiser. To make it interesting Tyson and I will be competing against each and the winner earns bragging rights.
"Acing out ALS" premise is simple. Two teams trying to get the most points by serving and hitting practice cones. Each team will consist of three people. My team will be made of my awesome coach -Coach Roosevelt and my tennis friend Will H. The second team will consistent of my brother, Coach McCain and Coach Mallory .
The competition will be June 5, 2022 at Cape Henry Racquet club in Virginia Beach, Virginia (Thanks Mr. Darryl for the court).
My parents will donate to the team that generates the most points.
Don’t feel left out…..You can also donate under the Team Gleason. All funds whether you give to me (the best choice), my brother or other members will go to Team Gleason.
In the spirit of competition, my parents will also give another $ 200.00 to the team that has the most received the most money thru sponsors by July 19, 2022- Mr. Reza's birthday. But don’t worry you can still donate after that date.
I am faster and more coordinated and more focused than my "old" brother---I have no doubt my team will win! I am honored to help people with ALS. Please help me, my brother, tennis friends and Team Gleason make a difference.
MAY 20
My mom made me go door to door to my neighbors house! She told me it was "old school"!
