For almost 56 of my 59 years, my sister Dina has been a constant source of joy, humor, and wisdom in my life. Her strength of character, her passion for making the most of her unique talents and encouraging others to do the same with theirs, and the way she loves her family are an ongoing source of inspiration for me.
Dina has always been a bright light in the lives of everyone who knows her. At no time has this light shined more brightly than since 2022, when Dina was diagnosed with ALS. Since then, with the help of her amazing family and a dedicated cadre of friends, she has brought her characteristic optimism and determination to bear on this challenge. Team Gleason has played a vital role in helping Dina maximize her quality of life, providing wheelchair modifications and voice banking for her speech device. Thanks to their help, Dina is able to conserve her energy and enjoy life more fully, which includes spending quality time with the two(soon to be three) grandchildren who have come into her life since her diagnosis!!
On October 6th, I’m running the Milwaukee Marathon…for Dina. Dina’s challenge has taught me that good health is a precious gift, not to be taken for granted or lightly. Therefore, I’ve chosen to follow her lead and make the most of the life and good health I currently enjoy by setting and achieving this goal of finishing a full marathon before my 60th birthday in March! And I would like to help the organization that is helping Dina in the process!
Would you consider helping me help Dina and Team Gleason? By running and finishing this marathon, I would like raise $5,000 for Team Gleason to enable their noble efforts to assist my sister and so many others relying on them to help them fight this battle with dignity and with the best quality of life possible! All funds donated will go directly to Team Gleason via this page. Any amount will be appreciated! And make no mistake: I will finish this “Dash for Dina!”
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about my mission!! I hope you’ll join me in making the most of this experience for the good of one of the finest people I will ever know and for Team Gleason!!!
